Operational Principle

Area-17 is capable of being rendered entirely nonexistent—temporally detached from the timeline and effectively "frozen" outside of causality. In this state, the facility and its contents are invulnerable to external attack. Because detachment carries inherent risk, the facility is only frozen once all personnel have evacuated the premises; it reappears and reanchors once staff return.

Brief History

Area-17 was established following the discovery of anomalous temporal displacement at the Cheyenne Mountain site, and was repurposed for Foundation containment operations shortly after. Its ability to phase out of the timeline was identified during a routine containment breach and has since become the facility's primary defense measure, invoked only under direct authorization of the Facility Commander.
